NAMES IN THE NEWS

     MAGIC JOHNSON was on the "Tonight Show" last night.  Jay
Leno presented him with a bright red flashing bow tie and Johnson
gave Leno a "pimp daddy soul hat" (NBC, 11/15). ....Former
Buccaneers President GAY CULVERHOUSE will become President of
Notre Dame College in Tampa (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS,
11/15)....Pistons/The Palace CEO TOM WILSON is featured in the
latest issue of CORPORATE DETROIT.  Wilson, on the new revenue
ideas when building The Palace:  "We put the suites here where
they had never been before and we charged a higher premium
because (the audience) is sitting closer to the action than
before" (CORPORATE DETROIT, 11/95 issue)....TONY DORSETT, DREW
PEARSON, RANDY WHITE and ROGER STAUBACH appeared on "CBS This
Morning."  Dorsett talked about his Touch Down Products' Pro Flow
Spring Water, his telecommunications business venture with EARL
CAMPBELL, and his sports bar, the Cowboy Sports Cafe (CBS,
11/16)....Good Morning America" was on location at Duke in
Durham, NC.  Blue Devils Basketball Coach MIKE KRZYZEWSKI made an
appearance, and the GMA crew toured Durham Athletic Park, home of
the Durham Bulls (ABC, 11/16). ....In addition to COSOMPOLITAN
(which has NHL stars posing with models), the December issue of
MADEMOISELLE will also feature NHL players.  CAM NEELEY, MATHIEU
SCHNEIDER and ALEXANDRE DAIGLE are featured under "Souls on Ice"
(NHL).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
