MA Gov. William Weld has decided against filing a "last-
ditch" Megaplex bill, according to the BOSTON HERALD. Weld

Saturday's DETROIT FREE PRESS, Charlie Vincent writes many are

(DETROIT FREE PRESS, 10/28)....The new 20,300-seat MCI Center in
downtown DC will likely not host the ACC men's basketball
tournament as ACC officials say the event cannot be held in an
arena smaller than 22,000 (WASHINGTON POST, 10/30)....The WHL
Seattle Thunderbirds opened the renovated Key Arena last night
"with fireworks, a sold-out crowd, a massive ribbon cutting, a
big win and enough fanfare to impress even the most die-hard
hockey fan accustomed to the ancient confines at the old Center
Arena," writes Angelo Bruscas. T-Birds Owner Bill Yuill was
"most impressed" with the arena, particularly the sight lines
from all areas of the building, but some fans were not quite as
enthusiastic. T-Bird Booster Club President Mike Altentaler:
"They made it a rich man's club and hockey fans are common folks.
With the prices we could go up to Vancouver and see the Canucks"
(SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, 10/31).
