Products Council hosted a reception and exhibition Wednesday
night on Capitol Hill (SGMA)....DAN MARINO, BRYAN COX and JEFF
CONINE were among those to pledge their support and time to a
telethon for partially paralyzed South Florida high school
football player Kendrick English (MIAMI HERALD,
10/26)....Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport
in Society will hold their 11th annual Awards Banquet on November
8 in Boston.  Among those to be honored: Celtics President RED
AUERBACH, Women's Sports Foundation Exec Dir DONNA LOPIANO and
ESPN's BOB LEY (Sport In Society).... ...Former Patriots QB STEVE
GROGAN was the subject of the "Where Are They Now?" segment on
HBO's "Inside the NFL."  He is now the owner of Grogan/Marciano
Sporting Goods in Foxboro, MA, which is still being run by the
family of boxing legend ROCKY MARCIANO ("Inside the NFL," HBO,
10/26)....World Series icon SPARKY MORTIMER last night called
play-by-play for a baseball fan eating a hot dog ("Late Show,"
CBS, 10/26)....STEFFI GRAF appears on the "Late Show" Thursday
(PHIL. INQUIRER, 10/27).
     CORRECTION:  Jack Bonanni, Former Senior VP of Advertising
Sales for ESPN, was misidentified in yesterday's DAILY.  THE
DAILY regrets the error.
