NEWS FROM "ADVERTISING AGE": NIKE GETS THEIR ADS IN THE RING

     Nike will introduce ads in late October around their new
sports venture -- boxing.  Nike has asked ad agency Wieden &
Kennedy of Portland to "come up with something that is edgy and
provocative, and the ads will hit in about six weeks."....Jeanne
Whalen looks at the new M&M/Mars ad campaign to "steal back
share" from Hershey's.  Whalen: "Sports plays a big role in new
M&M/Mars ads, despite its rivals' lock on league sponsorships,"
as Hershey sponsors the NFL and NCAA while Nestle has the NBA.
The new Snickers campaign has the tagline of "Why Wait?" and
features Bills Coach Marv Levy trying to convince his players
that they can win the Super Bowl.  Levy: "No one is leaving this
room till we figure out how."  A later shot shows them still
sitting in the locker room eating Snickers....The Super Bowl
Parade in Scottsdale, AZ, scheduled for Saturday, January 27, is
looking for sponsors for their inaugural event.  Costs range from
$25,000 to $500,000 and is handled by ISES of Stamford, CT (AD
AGE, 9/11 issue).
