FORMER COCA-COLA VETERAN LANDS WITH VISA TO HEAD MARKETING

Michael Beindorff has been named by Visa U.S.A. to head its
U.S. marketing operations as Exec VP/Marketing and Product
Management. Beindorff, who worked as a Coca-Cola marketing
executive, will now control Visa's estimated $112M U.S. ad
budget. During his tenure Beindorff was credited with some "bold
industry firsts," including enlisting singers Whitney Houston,
Elton John, and Paula Abdul to appear in ads. Beindorff has met
with Visa's agency, BBDO New York, about "creative ideas" for
Visa's sponsorhip for the '96 Olympic Games. It is "believed
that Beindorff will look to freshen up" the current "Everywhere
You Want to Be" Campaign and "make it more relevant to Visa's
future" (Alison Fahey, ADWEEK, 5/15 issue).
OTHER MARKETING MOVES: Scott Bedbury, the 37-year old
advertising director who was behind the slogan "Just Do It" at
Nike, will become Starbucks Senior VP of Marketing on June 5
(SEATTLE TIMES, 5/20).
