ORIOLES RE-DESIGNED LOGO AND CAPS HAVE MORE REGIONAL FEEL

The Orioles are unveiling a new logo, uniforms and caps for
the '95 season, "with an eye to their Washington fans." The club
has dropped "Baltimore" from its logo and did not make the "much-
requested return" to the mid-70s road uniforms with "Baltimore"
scripted across the front. The new logo features a larger, more
"ornithologically correct bird turned in the other direction and
yellow-and-green baseball diamond as a backdrop." The uniforms
have a new bird patch on the left sleeves and there is single
black piping on the pants and jerseys. The home jerseys have
"Orioles" in black letters on the front with black names and
numbers on the back. Last year, the letters and numbers were
orange. There are also two new caps in addition to the
traditional black one. The road cap has a gray top and black
bill, and an alternate home cap has a black top with an orange
bill (Brad Snyder, Baltimore SUN, 4/13).
