NAMES IN THE NEWS

GREG NORMAN is on the cover of April's issue of MEN'S
JOURNAL. Norman defended his proposed World Golf Tour: "The
game of golf has transcended American golf. ... There's no way,
absolutely no way this tour will undermine a $450 million
business like the PGA Tour. I personally think the PGA Tour is
trying to keep their players with them more to protect their
business than for the betterment of golf." John Paul Newport
writes, "As much as any athlete in thistory, [Norman] has managed
to become not just a champion endorser of products but in many
cases the owner or part-owner of the companies whose products he
endorses." Cited are Cobra Golf (Norman has a 12% stake) and
Reebok, whose independent Shark-logoed subsidiary does $200M in
annual sales (MEN'S JOURNAL, 4/95 issue)....Roy Firestone looked
at the history and tradition of Boston Garden and interviewed
Celtics President RED AUEBERACH. Auerbach: "Well the Bruins,
because they own it. The people who own the Bruins own the
Garden. ... We (the Celtics) are the ones that gave the Boston
Garden the international recognition" ("Up Close," ESPN,
4/11)....The tentative schedule was announced for the Baltimore

Padres President & CEO LARRY LUCCHINO, Redskins Dir of Public
Relations RICK VAUGHN, Baltimore CFL Club VP & CFO ARIC
