In a private screening in Washington, DC, Time Warner Sports
President SETH ABRAHAM and HBO Sports Senior VP & Exec Producer
ROSS GREENBURG debuted HBO's new quarterly magazine show, "Real
Sports with Bryant Gumbel." Also present were "Real Sports"
reporters FRANK DEFORD and SONJA STEPTOE. Abraham said the aim
is to have the show on a monthly schedule in '96. He and
Greenburg also noted that since HBO's ties with pro sports are
limited, no subject is out of bounds -- including boxing and
Wimbledon. Abraham stressed the show's success will not be tied
to ratings, but to "credibility" (THE DAILY). "Real Sports" airs
April 2.

The current issue of FORTUNE features a cover story on
Disney CEO MICHAEL EISNER. Writer John Huey notes, "Disney's
competitors -- among them RUPERT MURDOCH, Viacom and Time Warner
-- all are piling up diversified distribution assets, such as
networks and cable systems, in a play to control the future of
the entertainment business. Eisner, so far among the big boys,
stands alone in putting virtually all his chips on content."
Eisner on a possible partnership with former QVC Chair BARRY
DILLER to buy and control CBS or another broadcast network:
"Barry is the only person I would every buy anything with and
give him control. The only one" (FORTUNE, 4/17 issue)....
