Sports Industrialists

     MICHAEL RIBERO was named Exec VP/Marketing at Sega of
America.  Ribero, 38, was Exec VP at Hilton Hotel Corp
(ADVERTISING AGE, 2/20 issue)....JOE BOHRINGER, 24, was promoted
to Dir of Baseball Operations for the Ottawa Lynx, the Expos AAA
affiliate.  He was the team's Assistant Dir of Baseball
Operations (Lynx)....MSG Public Relations head PAUL SCHNEIDER has
been named VP of Communications for SportsChannel New York (N.Y.
NEWSDAY, 2/20).

     After creating a "furor" last week by telling "Late Show"
host DAVID LETTERMAN he would like to play for the Bullets if his
father, ex-NFL star CALVIN HILL, bought the team, GRANT HILL says
that he's "out of the talk show scene ... for a while."  As for
the Bullets, Grant says his father is not in the market
(WASHINGTON TIMES, 2/21)....Former Piston and current Detroit
entrepreneur DAVE BING is featured as "1994 Newsmaker of the
Year," in the current issue of CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS.  A new
health club with an emphasis on basketball, owned by Piston JOE
DUMARS, is also featured (CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS, 2/13-19).
Dumars' club, the "Joe Dumars Fieldhouse" was also featured on
"CBS This Morning."  Dumars says this is part of his goal to
someday own a pro franchise (CBS, 2/22)....Former Red Sox great
SAM MALONE made a guest appearance on "Frasier" last night.
Frasier to Malone:  "You are not in Seattle because of the
Mariners."  Malone: "No ballplayer is in Seattle because of the
Mariners" (NBC, 2/21).
