     ESPN's "Prime Monday" included an interview with Jerry Jones
who said he intends to run the team, but not coach it.  Jones
says the Cowboys can get the best coach possible and "it would be
bad mismanagement" for him to coach the team.  DETROIT FREE
PRESS' Mitch Albom, on Jones as coach: "Who's to say this
couldn't work?" (ESPN, 9/19)....Fox Broadcasting Chair/CEO CHASE
CAREY was interviewed on CNN's "Moneyline." He called the NFL
purchase "primarily an asset building deal" (CNN, 9/19)....TOM
SEAVER and writer MARTY APPEL will co-host a new radio feature,
"Around the Bases," produced and distributed by GNG
Communications in N.Y. in February '95 (AD AGE, 9/19)....The
Raptors will announce today that former NBA player PHIL HUBBARD
will become their director of scouting.  Hubbard is currently an
advance scout with the Knicks (TORONTO STAR, 9/20)....Orioles
sales director VINCE DUNBAR yesterday announced his resignation.
Dunbar will become a sales representative with Baltimore's
Durrett-Sheppard Steel Co. (Baltimore SUN, 9/20)....All About
Sports president STAN JOHNSON and Eastern Mountain Sports
president WILLIAM FERRY have been elected to the National
Sporting Goods Association Board of Directors (THE DAILY)....Some
of the other names, besides Disney and Dr. JERRY BUSS, being
floated as interested in purchasing the Angels:  PETER UEBERROTH,
agent LEIGH STEINBERG and former Mariners owner GEORGE ARGYROS
(ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 9/16).
