Steve Nash, Stu Holden Star In DAZN's New Social Media Series

DAZN is launching a new social media series featuring Basketball HOFer Steve Nash and Fox Sports soccer analyst Stu Holden to promote the platform's coverage of the Champions League, for which it owns exclusive rights in Canada. The series will feature Nash, who previously served as an analyst for Turner's Champions League coverage, and former USMNT MF Holden attempting to recreate five iconic Champions League moments ahead of the competition’s return this weekend.

The pair will attempt to recreate each moment from Holden’s home in California, starting with Real Madrid D Sergio Ramos’ match-tying header in stoppage time of the ’14 Champions League final. The first edition of the five-part series debuted Wednesday night on DAZN’s social media channels with subsequent episodes releasing throughout the round of 16 (August 7-8) and quarterfinal (August 12-15) matchups. The series was developed by Nash’s CTRL_ media company, Holden and DAZN’s North American content team.

DAZN North America Head of Digital Steve Braband said the series was designed to create shareable content to promote the platform's UCL coverage. "An idea like this needs to bring more people to our party," Braband said. Nash was a natural fit as the series' frontman. "We don’t want to just write up an idea and have someone perform it," Braband said. "Steve from the get-go was super receptive. We got him on a Zoom call while he was on vacation and he was pitching ideas to us. We knew right away he was the perfect person."

DAZN, which had already partnered with Nash on previous promotions, hopes to continue collaborating with the former NBAer on soccer-related content. DAZN also owns the rights in Canada to the EPL, MLS (Canadian teams excluded) and Serie A, as well as the NFL.
