Rescheduled Indianapolis 500 To Run With Stands Half Full

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is "committed to having spectators in the stands for the Indianapolis 500 on Aug. 23 -- but only at 50% capacity." IMS President Doug Boles in a Friday email to ticket holders wrote the track "will implement enhanced health and safety measures" and will "realign seating to allow for more space between customers." New race-day tickets "will be issued," with ticket holders being "asked to log-in at IMS.com by July 6 to amend their ticket requests." The venue typically seats around 250,000 at full capacity (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 6/26).

THE DAILY reported earlier this week that about 175,000 tickets had been sold.
