Monahan Says PGA Tour Will Strengthen Safety Protocols

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said the Tour is "making several adjustments to our health and safety plan" after several players or their caddies have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Travelers Championship this week. Monahan: “We’re just going to continue to refine and get better and better and identify ways where we can further mitigate any risk.” Monahan said, "We're all learning to live with this virus and we all need to learn to live with this virus. ... It's pretty clear that this virus isn't going anywhere."

Monahan noted there will be "serious repercussions" for any player or other Tour individual not following the safety protocols. He also noted the Tour still is "looking forward to reintroducing fans" at the Memorial next month, but only if it is "both a healthy and safe environment for our players, caddies, our staff and also for those fans that would be attending" (Golf Channel, 6/24).
