Group In Deep Negotiations To Bring IndyCar To Nashville In '21

The Music City Grand Prix group is “deep in negotiations with IndyCar” to host a street race in Nashville in ’21 and hopes to have an announcement soon, according to COO Jason Rittenberry. THE DAILY first reported last week that the group was in talks with IndyCar to hold a new event on the streets of Nashville, though it was unclear whether it would be in ’21 or ’22. However, Rittenberry has now revealed that the plan is for the event to start next year, and he also clarified the composition of the ownership group.

Whereas former Pocono Raceway President Joe Mattioli was involved in an original, and ultimately unsuccessful, effort to try to make this race happen in ’17, Mattioli is no longer involved. The group is made up of Rittenberry, Baker Curb Racing CEO Matt Crews and businessperson Christian Parker. IndyCar is expected to release its ’21 schedule sometime this summer.
