Mark Cuban Discusses NBA's Return To Court, Social Justice

Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban said the NBA is "doing everything possible” to return to the court safely. Cuban: “We’re learning from what others are doing, we’re dealing with the best in all related fields, all medical fields, all scientists, we’re talking to the best of the best.” Cuban said of playing in Orlando despite cases of COVID-19 increasing in Florida, “People are being monitored when they come into the environment, there's continuous information. Every precaution that possibly can be taken that’s exactly what we’ll do.”

With some players saying the league should not play and concentrate on social justice issues, Cuban said, “I encourage them to speak up and say what’s on their minds. It’s important to hear their perspectives." Cuban said he would defer to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and NBPA Exec Dir Michele Roberts “on any final judgments,” but his “hope is we’ll let the players do exactly what they think is the right thing to do” (“SportsCenter,” ESPN, 6/18).
