MWC Finalizes $270M Media Rights Deal With CBS Sports, Fox

The Mountain West Conference has finalized new media agreements with CBS Sports and Fox that will pay the conference $270M over six years. The $45M per-year average is three times more than what the MWC made previously in its deals with CBS and ESPN. SBJ first reported in December that the conference agreed to deals with Fox and CBS. The contents of the new agreement are similar, with Fox essentially stepping into the position ESPN formerly had. CBS and Fox are splitting the football and basketball inventory evenly. CBS will take at least three games to its network channel. Fox games could appear on FS1 or the network.

The new package does not require the MWC to play football on Thursday nights, but it does include 10 Friday night appearances. Boise State, which receives more money from the deals than other MWC schools, will play its home games on Fox.
