Sources: Fire, MLS Negotiating To Move Out Of SeatGeek Stadium
The Fire and MLS are in negotiations with the Village of Bridgeview to "move out of SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill., and relocate to Soldier Field in downtown Chicago," according to sources. A buyout would "allow the Fire to get out from under a stadium lease that was signed" in '05 and runs through the end of the '36 season. Sources said that discussions began "more than a year ago, but the deal is not yet complete." Meanwhile, sources said that meetings have also been held "regarding a potential team rebranding, though no decision has been finalized on whether that will include a new team name" (THEATHLETIC.com, 4/5).
