NFL Considers Proposal To Rein In On-Field Celebrations
The NFL will give "consideration to barring players from leaving the sideline to join on-field celebrations," at the "suggestion of some teams." The league's Competition Committee this week will "discuss the topic" during its meetings in Indianapolis around the Scouting Combine. If the committee "makes a proposal on the issue, it would be presented to owners at the annual league meeting in late March in Phoenix and would need to be ratified by at least 24 of the 32 teams." A violation of the rule, if enacted, "would result in an illegal celebration being called against the offending team and a 15-yard penalty being assessed" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 2/25).
