WGN Radio Picks Up White Sox Rights In Multiyear Deal

The White Sox and WGN today announced a multiyear agreement that makes WGN-AM the team's flagship radio station. The deal includes all regular-season and postseason games, plus select Spring Training contests. Play-by-play announcer Ed Farmer and analyst Darrin Jackson return in '18. The deal includes pre- and postgame programming, along with a weekly year-round show featuring news, highlights and interviews. The deal complements the team's partnership with WGN-TV (White Sox).

The White Sox "had been poised to enter the third season of a six-year contract with WLS-AM," but a bankruptcy judge "put the Sox rights up for grabs earlier this month at the request of the station’s parent company, Cumulus Media" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 2/14).
