NBA Practice Of Resting Stars Scrutinized As Cavaliers Visit Grizzlies

The NBA's "sticky issue of teams resting players gets a little stickier" tonight when the Cavaliers visit the Grizzlies without LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, a trio that "did not even travel to Memphis." The Cavs last night defeated the Grizzlies in Cleveland, so they "feel it's appropriate to sit out their stars." But the "optics are bad," as James "already has done a lot of traveling this week," including to N.Y. to accept SI's Sportsperson of the Year award. Tonight's game, the Cavs' only trip to Memphis this season, is "expected to sell out" (FORBES.com, 12/14).
