Cincinnati Police Not Changing All-Star Plans After Unrest

The Cincinnati Police Department "was confident in its response" to Saturday night's downtown unrest "but continued to self-evaluate" ahead of MLB All-Star festivities. About 3,000 people were gathered in and around Fountain Square for a concert as "fireworks and the Reds game came to a close." Portions of the crowd "turned raucous" around 11:00pm ET, resulting in "seven arrests, two assaulted police officers, a man in the hospital and looming questions of safety." Cincinnati Police Captain Mike Neville said that All-Star-related "operations won't change after Saturday night's unrest" (CINCINNATI.com, 7/6).
