Bucks To Hold Training Camp, Preseason Game In Madison

The Bucks today announced that they will hold training camp in Madison, Wis., this fall "and also will play a preseason game at the Kohl Center." The Bucks are "trying to emphasize their statewide presence as they continue their efforts to get a new downtown arena plan approved by the state legislature." Training camp will open Sept. 29 on the Univ. of Wisconsin campus. The preseason game is scheduled for Oct. 20 against the T'Wolves (JSONLINE.com, 7/6).

Meanwhile, Bucks President Peter Feigin today spoke to a state Legislature Joint Finance Committee in an effort to secure public funds for the proposed $500M arena. Feigin said that the "team's aging home," the BMO Bradley Center, "was holding back the franchise's profits." He added that if a new arena "isn't built, the league will instead buy the team from its current owners and move them to Seattle or Las Vegas" (JSONLINE.com, 7/6). Feigin: "The window is closing. We can't wait months, even weeks to start the public process" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/6).
