Univ. Of Hawaii Floats Plans For New 30,000-Seat Football Stadium

The Univ. of Hawaii Athletic Department today unveiled its design concepts for a new 30,585-seat multipurpose facility that would house UH football. The plans, created by Gens­ler, L.A., are estimated to cost $165-190M, "depending upon whether a partial roof is included." The plans are "not specific to any location." The version recommended to the Aloha Stadium Authority June 26 for the "current stadium site in Halawa" was estimated at $132-192M. Authority Chair Charles Togu­chi said the group has yet to make "any definitive decisions regarding the future of Aloha Stadium" (STARADVERTISER.com, 7/9).
