"Rocky" The Musical Opens Tonight To Positive Early Reviews

The musical "Rocky" debuts on Broadway tonight, and is "remarkably faithful" to the '76 film, with "all the usual suspects right down to Cuff and Link, though Mick the manager is fat, Paulie is skinny, and Rocky gulps down three raw eggs instead of five" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 3/13). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Pia Catton writes the "plot and spirit stay true" to the original film. The N.Y. POST's Tim Donnelly writes "Rocky" is "drawing an audience Broadway rarely sees -- guys more likely to be grabbing hot wings at a sports bar than perusing a Playbill." The PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE's Maria Sciullo writes it "combines a strong creative pedigree with unconventional source material."
