Fans At Super Bowl Spent Record Amounts On Food And Drink
Super Sunday was a big day for Delaware North Sportservice, as fans spent an average of $141.72 for food, beverage and merchandise at MetLife Stadium, said Sportservice COO Mike Phillips. The food and drink per cap alone of $94.60 set a new record for Super Bowl spending, according to SportsBusiness Journal research. The previous benchmark of $91.45 was established during last year’s Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Total sales for this year's game were about $11.7M for food, drink and retail based on official attendance of 82,529. Separately, food and drink produced $7.8M in gross revenue. Those numbers cover general concessions, premium dining and retail operations inside the stadium and at the Gameday Fan Plaza outside the facility.
