Blatter Holds Firm Against Moving '22 FIFA World Cup To Jan.-Feb.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter on Friday "held firm" against shifting the '22 Qatar World Cup to January or February "to avoid the searing summer heat in the Gulf." Blatter said, "It can only be November and December. It can no way be January or February." Blatter added FIFA officials and others "are starting now the consultations" on whether to move the World Cup from its traditional June-July slot. The decision "could drag into 2015" (AP, 11/8).
