Sponsorships Up For ING N.Y. Marathon After Hurricane Criticism

NYRR CEO Mary Wittenberg said "sponsorship is up" for Sunday's ING N.Y. Marathon and "we're going to celebrate ING this year, and we've just structured a premier partnership … for the next eight years." She added, "Partnership is stronger than ever." The new sponsorship is a "chance to rethink the entire presentation of the event." Organizers last year received criticism for attempting to hold the event shortly after Hurricane Sandy before cancelling the race. However, Wittenberg said they did not lose any sponsorship over that because "it was an unprecedented time." Wittenberg: "If we could only go back and have that all happen early in the week and make sure it was so clear to everyone, we're just here to support the city  ("Squawk on the Street," CNBC, 11/1).
