Concussion Lawsuit Against NCAA Could End In Settlement

The Adrian Arrington concussion lawsuit against the NCAA "could be headed for a settlement" after a U.S. District Court judge today "granted a stay in the case." The plaintiffs filed a motion for class-action certification July 19, "potentially including thousands of other former NCAA athletes in the lawsuit." That motion is "on hold for now." Both parties reported that "discovery is proceeding but that the case is stayed pending mediation." A third-party mediator "has not yet been selected, and there is no timetable for when the discussions would proceed" (USATODAY.com, 8/19).
