Minor League Baseball Launches Bracket-Style Food Item Promotion
Minor League Baseball has formally launched its latest online fan voting promotion, "#Foodfight," in which 64 food items from various minor league ballparks will be placed in a bracket-style contest. Following up on prior initiatives such as last year's "Mascot Mania" and its recurring "Moniker Madness," the latest effort seeks to highlight the adventurous concessions now common around the affiliated minors. A heavy social media component will be part of "#Foodfight," as fans will be able to vote via Twitter, Vines will be produced for many of the entrants, and the participating clubs will be offering various discounts to encourage participation.
Running through June 6 at milb.com/foodfight, the promotion also includes a sweepstakes in which a grand prize winner will receive a trip for four to the winning team's ballpark. The four bracket categories in "#FoodFight" are Gut Busters featuring large-scale items, Hogs 'N Dogs with hot dogs and pork products, Local Legends highlighting regional fare, and Scrumptious Sandwiches.
