MLB Announces 16 Contributors To Fan Cave: WBC Edition

MLB today at the Fan Cave in N.Y. introduced the 16 individuals that will comprise the cave dwellers for the MLB Fan Cave: World Baseball Classic Edition. The group includes one person from each of the 16 participating WBC countries, and will generate social media content during the upcoming tournament in a similar fashion as the regular MLB Fan Cave of the past two seasons. This global group, however, contains a notably older skew among its members, with six of the 16 aged 30 or older.

"We definitely could have drawn more from a younger demo, but in this instance, what we were really after was a real rabid passion for the respective country," said MLB Exec VP/Business Tim Brosnan. "What this is about is really helping promote the Classic and fueling the passion for the international play."

The selection process for the '13 Fan Cave is nearing its final stages and will likely contain an age skew among its members more in the 21-25 age demo, in keeping with the Fan Cave mission to generate social media content and draw in younger fans.
