Rockies Investor Linda Alvarado Bullish On State Of MLB Economics
Rockies investor Linda Alvarado appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” this morning and discussed the current state of MLB. Alvarado: “The industry is doing well. Part of it is the affordability of our tickets in baseball as opposed to other sports. But more than that, it’s the ability for teams to continue to compete. In that context, when you look 20 years ago, when we became an expansion team with the National League, the revenue was $1.5 billion. We set records last year (with) $7.5 billion and yes, while there's revenue sharing, it is economic development for the areas, the communities and the cities where we operate, so it's not just about baseball teams. So we continue to do well” (“Squawk Box,” CNBC, 2/6).
