Short NHL Labor Meeting Has Bettman Returning To N.Y. “Disappointed”
A meeting between the NHL and NHLPA lasted less than an hour and resulted in NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman saying that he was returning to N.Y. disappointed. “We were done in an hour because there was really nothing there,” Bettman told reporters in Toronto. The NHLPA reportedly made three versions of offers, but according to Bettman, they were not direct responses to the NHL’s proposal delivered on Tuesday. “I don’t know what the next step is,” said Bettman. “I’m obviously very discouraged.” Next up is the likely cancellation of another block of regular season games. Bettman said the clock was also ticking on the NHL Winter Classic.
