Sources said that Mississippi State and Oklahoma State are "finalizing a deal" to open the '13 college football season on Aug. 31 at Reliant Stadium. The game "will be the first of what will be a yearly tradition" for the Houston venue (ESPN.com, 9/28).

Super 8 will be the primary sponsor of Richard Petty Motorsport's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series No. 43 Ford driven by Aric Almirola in Sunday's AAA 400 at Dover Int'l Speedway. The hotel brand has launched the Road Trip Challenge Sweepstakes around the sponsorship (RPM).

Power tool brand Makita announced plans to further leverage its sponsorship deal with Univision soccer broadcaster Fernando Fiore. Activations include a new promotion giving Hispanic contractors a chance to attend a Mexican National Soccer Team match with Fiore (Makita).

The ACC named Little Big Town the headlining act for the '12 ACC FanFest, a free event that will be held Dec. 1 in Charlotte around the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game (ACC).
