As expected, the NHLPA and at least 16 Canadiens players today filed an application with the Quebec Labor Relations Board asking it to declare the NHL's planned lockout illegal in the province. An emergency hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in Montreal (NHLPA).

Ricoh today announced that it has renewed its deal to title sponsor the Women's British Open through '16, which will mark the tenth year of a sponsorship that began in '07 (Ricoh).

The 49ers and radio network Cumulus S.F. have signed a 12-year extension through '23 that will keep the team's games on three Cumulus stations: KNBR-AM, KSAN-FM and KGO-AM (49ers).

The Blues have hired Kuhl/Swaine, St. Louis, as their advertising agency of record. The firm will begin crafting the team's TV, radio, print and out-of-home messaging (Blues).

The Islanders today announced a partnership with social media startup SportsYapper. The deal marks the team's first official partnership with a social media company, as well as SportsYapper's first sponsorship deal with a pro sports franchise (Islanders).

Prince Global announced that it has renewed its endorsement deal with tennis doubles team Mike and Bob Bryan. The brothers won the men's doubles championship at this year's U.S. Open (Prince Global).

SI this week features Broncos QB Peyton Manning on the cover with the header, "Manning Up." Redskins QB Robert Griffin III appears on a regional cover (THE DAILY).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
