IOC's Heiberg Says Sponsors Happy With Staging Of London Games

IOC Marketing Commission Chair Gerhard Heiberg today said that "major sponsors are delighted with how London has staged the Games while the enthusiasm generated by the success of the British team is also a plus." Heiberg: "Everybody feels at home, everybody talks to each other, everybody is roaring and of course the sponsors, the IOC we feel this strongly." He added that TV partners also "were being well served," with a cumulative audience of 4.8 billion people (REUTERS, 8/7).

Meanwhile, LOCOG is "investigating how a bucket of unofficial condoms found its way into the athletes' village without official consent." Australian cyclist Caroline Buchanan tweeted a photograph of the bucket, which featured a sign reading "Kangaroos condoms." Durex paid for the right to be the official supplier of 150,000 free condoms for the 10,800 athletes at the Games (REUTERS, 8/7).
