Churchill Downs Unveils Planned New Seating Area, "The Mansion"

Churchill Downs today unveiled details of its planned new seating area, "The Mansion," part of $9M in planned renovations at the track. "The Mansion," scheduled to be completed in time for the '13 Kentucky Derby in May, will replace the area that "has largely served as the track's media center since 2005." Accompanying projects include a new media center, the "razing of the Paddock Pavilion to create an open gathering space" and the relocation and expansion of the Gold Room. The $9M brings CDI's total investment in facilities over the past decade to more than $150M (BLOODHORSE.com, 7/31).
