Time Warner Responds To Fox Claims About FS San Diego Talks

Time Warner Cable rebuffed Fox' contention that it had stopped negotiating for carriage of FS San Diego, saying that it is working on a response to a proposal that it received today. "Many emails, phone conversations and other exchanges have occurred as we work together to reach agreement," TWC said via an email. "Four of the six potential distributors of Fox Sports San Diego programming have not been able to reach agreement with Fox. Perhaps this explains the Fox Sports San Diego spokesperson's confusion as to who has submitted proposals and when. Fox is out of step with many different distributors, not just Time Warner Cable."

Fox picked up the rights to the Padres this year from Cox and launched FS San Diego. It has signed deals with Cox and DirecTV, covering 60% of the San Diego market but has failed to come it an agreement with TWC, AT&T and Dish Network. TWC's statement is in response to a Fox statement from yesterday that said, "Despite what Time Warner is saying publicly, they are not negotiating with us to offer Fox Sports San Diego and the Padres to their customers." Fox went on to say, "The silence is deafening. Time Warner is making it clear they have no interest in carrying Fox Sports San Diego and Padres this year."
