John Skipper

Executive Chairman, DAZN Group

John Skipper is the executive chairman of DAZN Group, responsible for driving the organization’s global expansion.

In 2016, the company launched its groundbreaking sports streaming platform - DAZN - with the mission of making premium sports content affordable and accessible to underserved sports fans around the world.

By early 2019, DAZN will be available in nine markets across four continents. Collectively streaming 20,000 live events and 200,000 hours of sports content annually, DAZN features the world’s best sports rights including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Premier League, Champions League, J League, Serie A, Matchroom Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, Bellator MMA, among others.

Skipper was formerly president of ESPN. He oversaw the company’s television, digital, print and advertising sales initiatives. At ESPN, Skipper negotiated major rights agreements with the NFL, NBA, MLB, BCS, FIFA, USTA, the Masters Tournament, the British Open, Wimbledon and several college conferences. His career at ESPN began when he joined the company to launch ESPN The Magazine in 1990 after holding key roles at Rolling Stone and SPIN.

Skipper earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in the same field at Columbia University. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Sport and Social Justice.
