Skarpi Hedinsson

CTO, LASED

Skarpi Hedinsson was named the Chief Technology Officer of LA Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park (LASED) in October 2018.  In this role, Hedinsson leads the team driving the vision for and overseeing the implementation of technology throughout the 298-acre district that includes a stadium, performance venue, retail, office, hotel and parkland being built in Inglewood, CA by E. Stanley Kroenke.

The centerpiece of the sports and entertainment district, LA Stadium provides for a seating capacity of 70,240, expandable up to 100,000, with 260 luxury suites, more than 13,000 premium seats, and almost three million square feet of usable space. The project will include a 6,000-seat performance venue located under the same roof canopy as the stadium.   LA Stadium will be home field for the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers starting in 2020. It will host year-round sports and entertainment events and has already secured Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, the College Football National Championship game in 2023 and the Opening & Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Olympic Games.  Adjacent to the stadium and performance venue, the project anticipates more than 1.5 million square feet of retail and office space, 2,500 residences, a hotel and more than 20 acres of parks.

In February 2017, Hedinsson joined the Los Angeles Rams as the organization’s first Chief Technology Officer.  In this role, Hedinsson oversees the team’s technology strategy, shared service delivery and management of both football and corporate technology activities. 

Prior to joining LASED and the Rams, Hedinsson served as the Chief Technology Officer, Disney/ABC Television Group, where he oversaw efforts to identify new technology talent, capabilities and platforms.  Mr. Hedinsson had previously served as the company’s senior vice president, Technology & Platform, Digital Media.  His team deployed the revolutionary WATCH ABC and WATCH Disney services making the Disney/ABC Television Group the first entertainment company to provide authenticated users access to both live, 24/7 linear network streams as well as an extensive offering of advantaged window “on demand” episodes on desktops, mobile and connected TV devices. With ABC, they were the first to offer 24/7 live streams of local, national and syndicated programming.

Prior to launching the WATCH services, Mr. Hedinsson and team designed and built the Emmy Award-winning Full Episode Player for ABC.com and the critically acclaimed ABC Player App for iOS devices, both industry defining when they launched for being first to make full episodes of ABC Network Primetime, Daytime, and Late Night programs available to viewers on their respective platforms.

Mr. Hedinsson is the inventor or co-inventor of seven issued US Patents and fourteen pending US Patents in the field of digital media and streaming video.  He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Computer Science.  He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Lynnea and daughters are Isabel and Freyja.
