Ron Turner

Principal, Gensler Sports

Ron Turner is one of the industry’s most recognized sports facility leaders. In a career that spans over 40 years, Ron has spearheaded the design and delivery of innovative and award-winning sports venues across all major professional leagues in the U.S. and numerous facilities abroad.  His portfolio includes three retractable-roof ballparks, over 13 multipurpose NBA/NHL arenas including STAPLES Center, and several NFL stadia, including Lincoln Financial Field and the award-winning NFL Paul Brown Stadium.  Recent and ongoing work includes the new MLS stadium for Austin FC, Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at the Star in Frisco, Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center, University of Texas-Austin Arena, SDSU’s Aztec Stadium, and home to the Los Angeles Football Club, Banc of California Stadium. Ron also consults for professional leagues on facility evaluation, design guidelines, and broadcast and security requirements.

Ron is a member of the Stadium Managers Association, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Urban Land Institute, and the International Association of Venue Managers. Ron serves on the board of Dignity Health’s California Hospital Medical Center, the Dean’s Advisory Board at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and is a board member and Southern California Olympic Games Committee Vice Chair for the Los Angeles Sports Council. He received a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design.
