Steve Hank joined SSB in 2016 and is the Sr. Vice President overseeing the Sports and Entertainment, Collegiate Athletics, and Higher Education business units. He also develops strategies for SSB clients with a focus on business intelligence, fan engagement, revenue outcomes for professional franchises, athletic departments and advancement organizations, attendance growth, and database marketing products and services.
Prior to joining SSB, Hank worked in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department at the University of Texas at Austin as the Chief Revenue Officer/Sr. Associate Athletic Director where he led the sales, marketing, and revenue operations of the nation’s largest collegiate athletic department.
Hank was with Sun Devil Athletics at Arizona State University for twelve years, where he was in charge of the revenue generating areas of Sun Devil Athletics, including marketing, ticket sales and operations, branding, licensing, contract negotiation and management, and oversight of the University's sponsorship relationships. He also led the rebranding program of Sun Devil Athletics culminating with the launch of the Pitchfork logo in April 2012.
Prior to joining SDA, Hank was the President and Managing Partner of Direct Satellite Services, a nationwide satellite television direct marketing firm. While at Direct Satellite, Hank improved the company's DIRECTV sales ranking from No. 26,000 (last) to No. 34 within two years by implementing database marketing and targeted sales programs.
Before Direct Satellite, Hank worked at Leo Burnett USA, where he managed sports media affairs for Reebok International. Hank developed Reebok's media campaign for the Atlanta Olympics along with buying of the media for the Sports & Fitness and Outdoor product lines.
In addition to his business responsibilities, Hank has been a Professor of Practice teaching in the MBA program in the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. In 2008, he was awarded the Michael P. Mokwa Award for Alumni Achievement and the Distinguished Sports Business Champion Award by the WP Carey School of Business.
Hank is a 1994 alumnus of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Government. He received his MBA in Sports Business from Arizona State University in 2003.
