Dan Mullen is President of Bedrock, a full-service real estate firm specializing in acquiring, leasing, financing, developing, and managing commercial and residential space.
Mullen is responsible for creating and implementing the strategic vision for Detroit, attracting and locating unique, innovative office and retail tenants to the city’s technology and Central Business District, and overseeing Bedrock’s creative branding and marketing efforts.
Since purchasing its first building in 2011, Bedrock’s real estate portfolio has grown to more than 100 properties encompassing more than 16 million square feet in downtown Detroit and Cleveland. Mullen has been the driving force behind locating more than 250 regional, national and international businesses to these properties including world renowned menswear designer John Varvatos, Kit and Ace, one of the fastest growing retail brands in the world, award winning restaurant Wright & Co., Central Kitchen + Bar, Citizen Yoga, Nojo Kicks, Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) and countless others, reinvigorating once-abandoned buildings and filling them with new life. He has also led efforts to bring state-of-the-art placemaking and world-class public art to the city, further activating Detroit’s vibrant urban core.
Mullen serves on the board of the Empowerment Plan, a Detroit non-profit that hires previously homeless women to make sleeping bag coats for homeless people. He has been recognized as one of Detroit’s top young business leaders, receiving a “30 in Their Thirties” award from DBusiness Magazine and a “40 Under 40” award from Crain’s Detroit Business. He has also been interviewed by countless media outlets across the globe about Bedrock’s efforts to revitalize downtown Detroit.
Mullen began his career with Dan Gilbert’s Family of Companies in 2003 as a mortgage banker with Quicken Loans.
