Lauren Holtkamp is going into her fourth season as an NBA referee. In 2014, she became the third woman hired as an NBA referee and is the only woman to currently hold the position.
Lauren has six seasons of NBA D-League experience, having worked the 2013 and 2014 NBA D-League Finals. She also officiated four seasons in the WNBA and worked the 2014 conference finals. Additionally, Lauren officiated in numerous college conferences, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten, Big 12, American, Big East, and the Colonial Athletic Conference. She has also officiated various FIBA competitions, including the 2010 World University Games, and the 2012, 2013, and 2015 FIBA Americas Championships, which led to a nomination to work the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
Lauren graduated with a bachelor of arts in Business Administration and a master of arts in Communication from Drury University in 2004, where she was a member of the Women's inaugural basketball team that competed for the 2003 Division II National Championship. She went on to earn her master of divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2010.
Lauren lives in Tampa with her husband, Jonathan, and their dog, MJ. In addition to her work on the basketball court, she volunteers through the NBA Referee Association with Scholastic’s TIMEOUT for Reading Program, which focuses on childhood literacy. Lauren also volunteers with Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a program that supports those grieving the death of a loved one serving in America’s Armed Forces.
