KARIN NELSEN

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Karin Nelsen joined the Minnesota Vikings as Vice President of Legal & Human Resources in 2016 after 18 years with Cargill, Incorporated.   

Karin joined Cargill in 1998 and supported a broad range of businesses and geographies during her tenure.  After working in Minneapolis for nine years, she moved to Moscow in 2007 to serve as Lead Lawyer for Russia and then on to Geneva, Switzerland as European Deputy General Counsel.  Karin took her expertise to Singapore where she was named Asia Pacific General Counsel.  She returned to the United States in 2012 to work as North America General Counsel. 

Karin currently sits on the Board of Directors for the University of Iowa Law School Foundation and the Board of Directors for St. David’s Center, an educational non-profit in Minneapolis.   She also serves on the Guthrie Theater Board of Directors.   Karin was recently elected as a member of the American Law Institute.

Karin received her law degree from the University of Iowa Law School and earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Prior to joining Cargill, she worked as a litigator in Seattle and Minneapolis law firms and worked as a CPA at Touche Ross before starting law school.
