Chase Carey was named Executive Chairman of Formula 1 in September 2016 and Chief Executive Officer in January 2017. He is responsible for the strategy and operations of the world’s premiere motor sports business. From 2009 to 2016, Mr. Carey served as President and Chief Operating Officer of 21st Century Fox, as well as Executive Vice Chairman. He oversaw the world’s premiere portfolio of entertainment, news and sports franchises as well as worldwide broadcast, pay television and satellite assets. Mr. Carey continues to serve as a non-executive Vice Chairman of 21st Century Fox.
Previously, Mr. Carey was President and Chief Executive Officer of DIRECTV, Inc., where he led the operations and strategic direction of the DIRECTV, Inc. companies - which include DIRECTV, Inc. in the United States and DIRECTV Latin America. He was elected to the position in 2003 by the company's Board of Directors. He also served on The DIRECTV Group Board of Directors.
Prior to joining DIRECTV, Inc., Mr. Carey was co-Chief Operating Officer of News Corporation (now known as 21st Century Fox) and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Fox Television Group. He was particularly instrumental in building its worldwide television business that encompassed the FOX network, Fox Television Stations, Fox's cable programming group, and the Company's international satellite television operations.
Mr. Carey is a Director of Formula 1, 21st Century Fox and Sky, Plc. He is a graduate of Colgate University and Harvard Business School. He is also a Trustee Emeritus at Colgate University.
