For broadcast numbers, one ratings point = 1,067,000 homes. "COV AREA" = % of homes tuned into that program in that network's universe of subscribers.

ALL-STAR GAMES: ABC's coverage of the Pro Bowl was up 37% from the 4.3/9 for last year's game, which was played on a Saturday. This year was the highest Pro Bowl since an 8.6/15 in '00....The NHL All-Star game was off 6% against last year's 1.8/5.

AFL OFF TO A GOOD START: An estimated 7.9 million viewers watched all or part of NBC's regional coverage of the AFL on Sunday. The 1.6/4 ties the ArenaBowl XII telecast as the highest-rated AFL telecast ever. The coverage peaked at a 1.9/4 in the final 16 minutes (THE DAILY). The 1.6/4 fell by almost 30% from the overnight rating but still fell within the 1.5-2.0 NBC guaranteed to advertisers (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 2/7).

MEN'S COLLEGE HOOPS: ESPN's 75 telecasts are averaging a 0.88/ (765,463 HHs), a 4% drop in ratings and a 3% drop in HHs from last year's 0.92/ (792,657 HHs) for 81 telecasts. On ESPN2, the ratings for 64 telecasts are off 2%, averaging a 0.41, versus a 0.42 for 59 broadcasts last year. HH delivery is up 3%, from 340,988 to 350,647.

NOTES: CBS two-day coverage of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic rose 45%, from a 2.0/4 to a 2.9/7. Sunday's final round coverage jumped 67% from a 2.1/4. Third-round coverage on Saturday was up 22%....The PBA on ESPN is averaging a 0.83/ (721,328 HHs) through 15 telecasts, up 11% in ratings and 12% in HHs against last year's 0.75/ (644,116 HHs).
