2004 In Review: The Sports Business Year Set To Jingle Bells

THE DAILY presents our traditional sports business year-in-review set to a holiday carol. For ’04, it is set to the tune of "Jingle Bells.”

Dashing through the leagues
In a fun and festive way
How about the NHL...
Will they ever play?

Janet showed her ring,
Pacers-Pistons fight
Oh, what fun it is to see...
A towel drop Monday night!

Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells
XM has to pay,
Oh what fun it is to watch as
DC gets to play.

Oh, Glazer buys, Glazer buys
And Glazer buys some more,
Oh what fun the biz would be
If steroids were no more.

NASCAR makes its point
Laughing all the way,
NFL TV deals,
Kerri Walsh and Misty May.

A day or two ago,
ESPN turned 25,
The Red Sox were near death,
Until they came alive!

Oh, Jingle Bells, Conte tells,
NBA’s overseas,
Oh what fun it is to watch
Sports on HDTVs

Poker’s here, have no fear
Hold ‘em all the way,
Phelps goes gold and then makes news,
Phil Knight he steps away.

Why’d he go so slow...
Another Triple Crown has gone away,
Where is Smarty Jones,
Can he still come out and play?

Jingle bells, IMG sells
The FCC has its way,
Oh what fun it is to read
THE DAILY every day!
