N.Y. BASEBALL: In N.Y., Bob Raissman reports SportsNet N.Y.’s Mets ratings have shown “steady growth as the Mets have built their NL East lead.” The net averaged a 2.2 in April, then saw increases of 18% to a 2.6 average in May, and 27% to a 3.3 in June. The season-to-date average of 2.7 is up 80% from a 1.5 at the same time last season, when Mets games aired on MSG Network. YES Network’s season average for the Yankees is a 4.3, up from a 4.2, but Raissman writes, “With all that will be swirling around the Yankees in the second half, the number will increase, even if they begin falling out of contention” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/7).
ESPN: ESPN2’s live Wimbledon coverage averaged 476,000 HHs through last Friday, excluding the rained-out session on June 26, up 13% from 422,000 HHs for the first week in ’05. The net’s 7:00am ET “Wake Up to Wimbledon” show averaged 146,000 HHs during the tournament’s first week, up 57% from 93,000 HHs during the first five shows last year....ESPN’s live telecast of Tuesday’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest earned a 1.3/ (1,146,000 HHs) cable Nielsen rating, an 86% increase in the rating (0.7) and a 74% boost in HHs (660,000) (THE DAILY).
BOX SEATS: HBO Sports adjusted the figures for the May 6 Oscar De La Hoya-Ricardo Mayorga PPV, placing the final tally at 925,000 buys, up from 875,000, and the revised revenue figures at $46.3M (HBO Sports).
