Cars.com yesterday announced that it will kick off its '10 marketing campaign with an ad in Super Bowl XLIV, marking the third consecutive year the auto sales Web site will advertise during the game. Cars.com will continue its "Confidence" campaign with a 60-second commercial slated to air during the first half. The spot is in development by DDB, Chicago, the Web site's agency of record (Cars.com).

Strahan Starring In Latest TV Spot For
Vaseline Men Body And Face Lotion
FRESH FACED: In N.Y., Andrew Adam Newman reports Fox NFL analyst Michael Strahan appears in a "new television spot for Vaseline Men body and face lotion." In the new campaign -- a "collaboration between ESPN and the New York office of Bartle Bogle Hagarty -- and a new Web site, StrongerSkin.com, Vaseline, a Unilever brand, explores new territory for men's grooming." Unilever Marketing Dir for Skin Products Srini Sripada said that while sports figures like Strahan "help remove barriers for the masculinity conscious, equally important is the 'sports analogy' of equating a 15-minute workout for strengthening physique with a 15-second application of lotion for strengthening skin" (N.Y. TIMES, 11/4).

I'M LOVIN' IT: The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with McDonald's "worth almost $900,000." McDonald's will pay FAT $747,000 and will offer close to $150,000 in products as part of the three-year shirt sponsorship deal, which begins this month (FAT).

HOT DOG!: While wishing Pacers F Tyler Hansbrough a happy 24th birthday, ESPN's Michael Wilbon said Hansbrough's AT&T commercial where he returns a lost dog to a little girl "is the best commercial on TV." Wilbon: "It even has overtones of 'Thanks Mean Joe.' That's how sweet this commercial is" ("PTI," ESPN, 11/3).
