ALL THAT RACQUET: NBC's "Breakfast at Wimbledon" last Sunday featuring Roger Federer-Andy Roddick in the men's final drew 5.71 million viewers, marking the most-viewed men's final since 5.85 million viewers for Pete Sampras-Andre Agassi in '99. The '08 Rafael Nadal-Federer final drew 5.17 million viewers (NBC). West Palm Beach's WPTV-NBC earned an 8.1 local rating for Federer-Roddick from 9:00am-2:30pm ET. It peaked at a 13.2 rating toward the end of the match. The station drew a 6.1 local rating for Saturday's Serena Williams-Venus Williams women's final (VERO BEACH PRESS JOURNAL, 7/7). The Williams sisters currently live in Palm Beach County, while Roddick grew up in the county (THE DAILY).
FOOTBALL FEVER: TSN averaged 457,000 viewers for Friday's CFL B.C. Lions-Saskatchewan Roughriders game, marking the net's most-viewed sports event of the weekend. Federer-Roddick drew 384,000 viewers in Canada on Global and NBC, marking the second-most viewed English-language sports telecast for the week. Meanwhile, the CBC drew 230,000 viewers for Saturday's broadcast of the Calgary Stampede, ranking slightly ahead of the 227,000 viewers for the Wimbledon women's final on Global and NBC (THESTAR.com, 7/7).
